How to Turn off Disconnect if Idle

WindowsXP

Double click on My Computer.
Double click on Network Connections.
Locate the icon that represents your ISP and click on it to select it.
Go to File and click on Properties (alternatively, right click on your ISP icon and select 'Properties' from the menu).
Click on the Options tab.
Ensure the option 'Idle time before hanging up' is set to Never.
Click OK and OK again.

Windows 95, 98 and 98se

Double click on My Computer.
Double click on Dial-up Networking.
Click on the icon that represents your ISP to select it.
Go to File and click on Properties (alternatively, right click on your ISP icon and select 'Properties' from the menu).
In the Connect using section, click the Configure button.
Click on the Connection tab.
Ensure there the option Disconnect call if idle for more than () mins is not selected (ticked). To deselect it, click on the box.
Click OK and then Close again.

Windows Me

Double click on My Computer.
Double click on Dial-up Networking.
Locate the icon representing your ISP and click on it to select it.
Go to File and click on Properties. (Alternatively, right click on your ISP icon and select 'Properties' from the menu).
In the Connect using box, click the Configure button.
Click on the Connection tab.
Ensure the option Disconnect call if idle for more than () mins, is deselected (unticked). To deselect it, click on the box next to it.
Click OK and then OK again.

Windows 2000

Double click on My Computer.
Double click on Network and Dial-up Connections.
Locate the icon that represents your ISP and click on it to select it.
Go to File and click on Properties. (Alternatively, right click on the ISP icon and select 'Properties' from the menu)
Click on the Options tab.
Ensure the option 'Idle time before hanging up' is set to Never.
When this setting has been checked or adjusted, click OK and OK to close the properties.

Mac OS-9

Click on the Apple menu, go to Control Panels and click on Remote Access.
In the 'Remote Access' window, click on the Options button.
In the 'Options' window, click on the Connection tab.
Locate the option, Disconnect if idle for 10 minutes, and ensure it is not selected (ie. the ? box is unticked).
Click the OK button.
Close the Remote Access window.
If prompted to 'Save changes to the current configuration?' select the Save button.

Mac OS-X

On the Apple dock, locate the icon System Preferences and click to open.
In 'System Preferences' window, locate the section labelled Internet and Network.
Open the icon labelled Network.
In the 'Network' window, locate the Show section with a drop down box beside it. Ensure the box displays Internal modem as the option. If not, click the up/down arrows and select the option 'Internal modem'.
Locate the tab called PPP and click the tab to highlight it.
Click the button labelled PPP Options.
Locate the option Disconnect if idle for XX minutes, and click on the box next to it to untick it.
Click the OK button.
Close the 'Network' window
When you are prompted to 'Save configuration settings?' click on the Save button.
